Our New Home!

Welcome to our new home!   It may not have conventional doors or walls, but we still hope you’ll find the time to come on over, find out more about what we do, and catch up on the latest news about ElderCare Edmonton.

Since incorporating in December 1980 as the Association of Adult Day Support Programs, we’ve made more than a few changes to our organization: additional program days, different locations, new partnerships, and in 2007, a new name that better reflected our mission.

After 30 years, we agreed that even though our structure was sound, like most homes that have been around for a few decades, it could use a bit of a facelift.  Ours has come thanks to designer Kyle Langager who created the beautiful new logo which can be found on our letterhead, brochures and displays, in addition to this website.   Says Kyle, “the colourful and dynamic image of the birds welcoming a new member to the fold represents ElderCare’s core mission: to support independent seniors by providing day programs that engage them to their fullest abilities.”

We invite you to keep returning as our website grows to include more resources for clients, caregivers, volunteers, and those who may not be connected with our organization but would like support us and gather information on issues surrounding seniors.  We’re very proud of our new home and we hope we’ve made it a comfortable place you’ll want to visit again and again.  So come on in, take a look around – the coffee’s always on!

The Butterfly Project

The raising and hatching of several dozen butterflies at our day program was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I felt like a kindergartner with my nose pressed up against the aquarium, watching newborn butterflies dry trembling wings. Our clients were enchanted as they watched to entire process from chomping caterpillar to the true miracle of butterflies flying through the room , lighting on hands and heads and shoulders. They were all safely released into the wild the day after they hatched. Butterflies may have short lifespans, but they can create a forever memory. Kudos to our wonderful staff for providing our seniors with this innovative and moving experience

New website

I love the new website! The layout is elegant and informative as well as easy to navigate. The design of the new logo is growing on me too. Although I quite liked the old sunflower design the new logo does, in fact, symbolize ElderCare's community centered mission much better.

A Long Time Ago

I had the pleasure of holding the position of Executive Director at AADSP from 192-1997.  I have just taken a moment to look at the web site and all that technology & maturity continues to bring to theprogram which was so dear to my heart.  I continue to work with seniors here in Victoira and brought with me here all that I learned from the program.

I do return to Edmonton from time to time & would love to come and visit with you if that is possible.

Good luck on all your future adventures....Regards Barbara J. Edwards (nee: McKernan)
